After a long search I actually found some split ring pliers that worked,

these are possibly the best split ring pliers made that make the job

easier without damaging your rings.

Supplied by Texas Tackle,  2 sizes are available; the smaller are perfect for

up to #5, the larger ideal for #7 and bigger.

The only pliers I'd use on Bucher split rings.
